UPDATE: You Blew It & The Mystery of the Skunk Ape

Greetings from the world of Good Friends, everybody! I understand that there’s some business to attend to. Our webstore went down for a hot minute, and I’d like to apologize to everyone who tried to order but couldn’t while it was down, on behalf of the company. Having your store go down seems bad, but while it was down we were able to look at it and try to figure out ways to make it better. So, we’re going to work on doing that.

Also! We’re going to be helping Orlando’s YOU BLEW IT with their upcoming EP “The Past In Present”.  We’re slating it for an August 3rd release. They’ll be on tour for that, too.

Over the Winter a few of us got together and created “The Mystery of the Skunk Ape”. There’s more information about it at: http://fakeproblems.com/sape.html

Also! Fake Problems’ is hard at work in the studio. We’ll be on Warped Tour all summer, so check us out there– we’ll have all of our releases available there! <3 Derek

Last Chance!

Hey everyone!

We were taking an inventory here at Goodfriends world head quarters before Fake Problems hit the road again and discovered a few boxes of records that we thought we had sold out of quite a while ago. So in short we have like 15, Frank Turner “Campfire Punk Rock” 10″ , in the black and yellow swirl left. Also we found a box of the Look Mexico “This is Animal Music” LP’s, with a black and cream A/B side. Both really good records and these are definitely the coolest looking of the pressings. I also found a box of tour posters from Fake Problems previous tours with the likes of Against Me, The River Boat Gamblers, “Cheese Fest ” from the epic summer tour of ‘07 with Look Mexico and many more as well that i will be throwing in with all the orders. So if you wanna get your hands on any of these rare records, just go to the webstore and order them as you normally would but when it gets to the part of the checkout that asks if you want to write a note to attach with the order just type in swirl and i’ll make sure you get one. I will also make another post letting everyone know when they are sold out.  Also on the selling out of records note… there are only like 100 Fake Problems picture discs left, so if you want one of these you better get one now because once they are gone they are gone forever! and ever!

And go buy Fake Problems new record ” It’s Great To Be Alive” out TODAY on Sideone Dummy Records! @ www.sideonedummy.com!

hey alright so i been gone for a while, but i’m back now. at least for a little while. Tour was great, i got a bunch of pics to post on the “caseys pictures” section, but my computer is acting up right now so i’m doing this from derill’s computer. anyhow, hope derill treated you all nice if you ordered a record while i was gone, i’m sure he did he’s a good guy. but if he didn’t and he peed in your record or something gross like that or if you didn’t get sent something, give us a holler and we’ll take care of it asap. other than that, it’s great to be back in florida, the weather is absolutely beautiful. i freaking love it!! also, if you haven’t checked out the new broken gold and 500 miles to memphis, you need to, and theres still a few evel knievel picture discs left. so if you want one of those you may want to act quickly. ok well hope everyones been well, and thanks to everyone for everything!

Broken Gold 7″ PSA

Shitty Webhost! sorry!

If anyone has tried to place and order in the last 24 hours and it hasnt worked, its because our web host took our webstore offline. They wont put the site up back live until they receive confirmation that our customers received their merchandise and that we are not a scam. In the mean time you can head over to www.vinylcollective.com and get all the records in our catalog from our good friends over there. I apologize to anyone who tried to order anything but we should have it up and running soon. These internet folks are just a little hard to deal with……..nerds.

PS- Keep yours eyes open for awesome Holiday specials when we get the webstore back up. TEST PRESSES, OUT OF PRINT COLORS, ALL KINDS OF CRAZY FUCKING SHIT !

pps.- people that run the internet blow.

The Webstore Works

Hey everyone,

Sincere apologies to anyone who has tried to order anything in the last couple months. The company that is hosting our webstore wouldn’t approve what we had up there so it took a while to get it up and live. But it is now so fear no more.  Go check it out! we should be getting the Fake Problems EVEL KNIEVEL picture disc in this week and will start taking pre orders tuesday 11-18-08 with a release and shipping date the following tuesday the 25th. the record looks and sounds amazing and they are gonna go super fast so be sure to get yours while you can. we only pressed 500. we are also putting up a pre order for our next release from former and current members of the River Boat Gamblers, Austin Tx’s Broken Gold. it finally went out this week and we should have it the first week in December. this release comes with a free digital download as well. yes, goodfriends is entering the future. life’s a garden dig it.

RIP Robert Craig “EVEL” Knievel

Coming Soon to Your Ears!

HEY HEY HEY!!!

Totally awesome things happening on the Good Friends home front! First off the 500 Miles to Memphis record “Sunshine in a Shot Glass”  should ship from the plant either this week or next week which means, you could be one of the lucky S.O.B’s spinning one of your very own within the next month! So get excited. If anyone hasn’t checked these guys out yet you should.

500 Miles to Memphis’ myspace!

Sunshine in A Shot Glass was one of my favorite records of last year. Call your friends (the fun ones), invite them over, put that record on, and get drunk. I swear you will have a good time.

Also leaving for its trip to the presses this week is the 7″ ep from Austin’s very own Broken Gold. As well as the highly anticipated Evel Kinevel 12″ picture disc, from the most rockin dudes on the planet, Fake Problems. The art work for the Broken Gold record was done by Horsebites, and the Evel art was done by Bridey Bowen. Check em both out below.

So in conclusion, everyone should start saving up their loot and get ready to hit the Good Friends Records webstore very soon. Which should be up and running smoothly except Dougal McKorkle skipped town again. But I’m sure it will be firing on all cylinders by the time next week rolls around.  So this was my first website blog post or whatever it is and i feel like it went pretty well.  And it’s 9/11 so what a great time to try something new, right?….AMERICA!!!

Born in the USA is playing at my place, What are you doin??

Wow, This Thing REALLY Works?!

Kirk re-vamped the website after he pushed me into a pool and destroyed my cellphone. It’s some weird WordPress system that is really high-tech and fancy! I’m really excited — it’s rather interactive for those of us behind the curtain– so expect us to update a bit more often! I’m trying to figure out something to give you. Oh– there’s this video that Casey and I made in Omaha! Let me post it here:

Good Friends Records Summer Update

Beyond that, we JUST got the masters for the Fake Problems “Evel Tribute” Picturedisc. Bridey Bowen’s doing the art– well, finished the art. We’ll post some of it soon, as we approach the launch of the single. In that same package came the Broken Gold stuff– now we just wait for the artwork to get finished. If anybody’s ever pressed a record, you know that the art takes forever!

We have a bunch of stuff happening that I wish I could elaborate on. It’s not my place to say, but, we are all really excited about everything! Cheers to everyone. Looking forward to go on tour next week — please bring us beer and food and plan on having a good time.

Bands that I think are rad, right now, and I’m totally loving their new stuff:

  • Sink the Bismark
  • Jaguar Love
  • The National
  • Okkervil River
  • Gaslight Anthem
I'm Looking For the Guy on the Left

I'm Looking For the Guy on the Left

I was on this website called Punknews.org and this user named Brennis was insulting Fake Problems! I couldn’t believe it. So I did a little leg work, his name is Brian Thompson and is from New Haven, CT — and he’s a freakin’ jerk. His parents didn’t teach him how to act properly. Or how to keep himself– I mean, look at that photo! That’s him! All the way left! With the HAIR! Hahahahha!

Allright! I’ve got to get back to work. Allright! –Derek

Online Store

Ok, so I know the FP record "officially" comes out tommorow, but i’ve decided to close down the online store. I bet you’re thinking something like "Why the hell would you do that?" Well, good question. Fake Problems leaves for a hugegantic tour tommorow and rather than ship records every other day from the road, i’ve opted to refer you all to the following establishments which happen to be classy enough to carry our entire catalog; www.noidearecords.com; www.vinylcollective.com so yeah, if you want records, order from them. Or come out to a fake problems show. or just come to a show to say hi. or come to a show and tell us we suck. or come to a show and get drunk and pee your pants and black out and forget you even saw a show. or come to a show and watch one band and then leave. or come to a show and have a great time. or do whatever you want. do something. get off the internet.

Fake Problems tour dates available here: www.fakeproblems.com
